KerryKing;
You haven't read Crisis of Conscience yet?
I encourage you to,,
Please do so asap.
good morning all, i would love some genuine advice please.. i have an old friend who is still in the org, but has never been the very staunch type.
however, she is going through a very rough patch in life, (past deeds from youth caught up and now is in prison) and i reached out to her by old fashioned snail mail.. by her reply she sounds more pimi than ever and finding some sort of comfort in the literature.
would i be wrong to attempt to wake her up, would that actually be a cruel thing to do right now?

Send her a copy of Crisis of Conscience..
Then order her some of James Pentons books.
That should help her.
it comes up from time to time: that the wt's "constant pleas for money" signifies their precarious financial state due to the pressure of the csa settlements.
is there any way of demonstrating that to be a fact?
i ask because i've always been under the impression that "constant pleas for money" is the default state of the organisation, possibly going back to rutherford's time.
Not Former;
The pleas for money are now so obvious that they're after members home equity,, wills & estates. In addition they want your frequent flyer miles from supermarkets,, air miles & reward points....
If you go to any assemblies or conventions they have contribution boxes strategically situated throughout the venue. They have credit card & debit card machines strategically set-up by the washrooms & entrances so you cant miss them.

Stephen Lett GB member said back years ago that this organization has never begged for money & would not start "now"".
this is my first time posting to this forum.
let me start by saying i was born and raised as a jehovah’s witness.
i’m thankful that i was raised this way, because i feel it protected me in some ways, especially with regard to moral issues.
Sometimes going to BetHELL,,, is what it takes for the jW's to,, snap out of it.
'many survivors of clergy sexual abuse have never received an apology or any acknowledgement of the harm they suffered.
but at the may 3, 2024, meeting of the general conference of the worldwide united methodist church in charlotte, north carolina, the following resolution of apology to all survivors and their families was approved.. .
“the united methodist church apologizes for the times we allowed our desire to protect the church to outweigh our desire to care for victims and survivors of sexual misconduct.
Vidiot:
As I always reiterate,, we really see what the Borg is about when something even remotely even hints a threat to them.
When it comes to to legal issues or $$$.

Now it all makes sense.
Why the Borg was so adamant & stubborn about 5 years in not having that pedophile list disclosed.
Because its a threat to the "tax free status"". Which would topple the Borganization.
So they were paying $4000.00/per day. Ended up being over $2milliion in the end.

Vidiot;
Thanks for the clarification.
Yes. The Borganization as we know it,,, is fully dependant on its tax free status,,,& cannot survive without it!!!

Captives of a Concept by Don Cameron is a must read too.
The exception on thiis book,,Don doesn't delve into his history too much like Ray Franz did
Mr Franz outlined his background in the Borg quite,, involved.
Don Cameron just goes right into the things in the Borg which are damaging.
it is proposed to the seimas not to grant state recognition to the religious community of jehovah's witnesses.
lithuania05/05/2024 09:30. jehovah's witnesses; baptism associative / e. ovcharenko / bns photo.. it is proposed to the seimas to refuse to grant state recognition to the lithuanian jehovah's witnesses religious community.. community representatives told bns that they hope that parliamentarians, taking into account the practice of the european court of human rights, will make a different decision.. the draft resolution registered by the chairman of the human rights committee of the seimas, tomas vytautas raskeviÄŤius, states that this community does not meet the requirements of the constitution and the law, that its education and rites do not conflict with laws and decency.. "the ministry of justice has determined that the religious teaching of this community is possibly not compatible with the constitution of our country in two aspects.
the first is that jehovah's witnesses oppose blood transfusions due to certain aspects related to health care (...).
